about CNA
« on: April 03, 2019, 10:34:33 AM »
Dear Dr. Alexander Stukowski,
Sorry for that I didn't find the 'new topic' link to post my question.
I copied the python script( from https://www.ovito.org/manual/python/introduction/examples.html#example-compute-voronoi-indices) to the new CNA.py file, ran ovitos terminal, typed 'ovitos CNA.py', the following information displayed:
   File "<console>", line 1
     ovitos CNA.py
                   ^
SyntaxError: invalid syntax

Seems like the python version issue, do I need to install the latest python? Or does OVITO have python built in already? My OS system is win7.

Dear nfer,

no you don't need to install python. As a first step open the windows command line prompt. Then go into the folder that contains your script and data using
Code: [Select]
cd "<type your path here>"
If you have installed OVITO in C:\ProgramFiles, you execute ovitos like this:
Code: [Select]
"C:\Program Files\Ovito\ovitos.exe" CNA.pyor you add that folder to your path variable
Code: [Select]
set PATH=%PATH%;"C:\Program Files\Ovito\"so you don't need to type the whole path every time.
