animation problem
« on: December 13, 2018, 09:08:56 AM »
hi, Alex

I have a problem when doing animation in Ovito 2.9.0 (OS: win7).
My configuration file is in xyz format(see the attachment config.xyz), where there are five types of particles (C-gray, H-white, O-red, N-green, F-blue spheres).
It seems that the frames do not coincide with original data. For instance, frame 46(see the attachment animation.jpg) apparently has a lot of H particles, but it is indeed not the case in config.xyz.
What causes this problem? And can it be fixed?

Thanks.

Hi,

Hmm, an XYZ file with varying types of atoms... This could be the same issue reported here:

https://gitlab.com/stuko/ovito/issues/137

I am investigating it.

Hi, Alex

Thanks anyway.
Hopefully it will be fixed in future.
When I try to keep all types of particles in each frame (actually I just use one disappeared type to replace any one in XYZ configuration file). All the frames are shown correctly again, although only one or a few particle  types are not the same as original data.

Ovito 3.0.0-dev312 and newer versions (available here) contain a fix for this issue.

Hi, Alex

Thank you for supplying me the new version of Ovito.

I download the Ovito 3.0.0. The configuration file I attached previously can be shown correctly. So I am happy.

When I try to import a new XYZ file, which is attached here, the similar problem appears again!
I compare the original data with those shown in Ovito 3.0.0 (particle type of frame 3), and find there is much difference about the particle type.

It seems that the problem is not solved completely......
Or maybe it is due to another reason.

I check the original configuration file carefully, to find that the H atoms disappear completely in frame 3. I think this probably causes the color of particle type to be shown wrongly.  So I replace a particle's type with H in original data of frame 3, then it is shown correctly again!

Thanks for letting me know. Looks like I wasn't fully successful in fixing the problem.

Please download Ovito 3.0.0-dev322 -it should correct the problem- and try again.

Thanks!
After I tried, I think this issue has been fixed fully.
