Incuding Python dev in the ovito distribution
« on: July 20, 2019, 03:08:00 PM »
Hi,

I have a suggestion. Recently I want to use Cython to rewrite the computationally expensive part in my Ovitos script to speed up the code. But when I try to compile the script with Ovtios Python pip command, it said it cannot find "Python.h" file. So I have to compile the Pyd file with another Python environment who has the Python dev files then let Ovitos import the binary Pyd file. It works but tedious. Could you add Python dev environments in the future distribution?

Thank you,

Linyuan

Hi Linyuan,

Yes, I will see if we can do that. On which operating system do you use Ovito?

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your reply. I use Ovito dev 422 version. And my operating system is win10 1903. The compiler is MS VS 2017. The compiler works fine, but it couldn't find Python header files.

Best,

Linyuan
