Problem with render of viewport
« on: May 23, 2017, 04:32:59 PM »
Dear all,

I am trying to export a figure of the active viewport where there are some interstitials and vacancies (with different colours) in a crystal after a collision cascade. However, the picture that I get looses all colours (see attachment). It gets all black and white.
Is there a way to get in the picture exactly the same thing as in the active viewport (including colours)?

Many thanks in advance and best regards,
Christophe

Hi Christophe,

I'm not sure what exactly you have been doing and how the viewports look like, but my guess is that you have selected some atoms. In the interactive viewports, selected atoms are always displayed with a red color (i.e. temporarily overriding their actual colors). However, during image rendering, the selected particles are no longer marked with a red color; they are rendering using their actual colors (being white by default).

If you want to give the selected particles a particular color that also shows up in the rendered image, apply the Assign Color modifier.

Let me know if that doesn't solve your problem.

Dear Alex,

Thanks a lot. It works now with the Assign Color modifier.
And what about the background? If I want it black (as in the viewport) instead of white? Is it possible to set the colour of the background for the rendering?

Sure, the image background color can be set in the Render Settings panel:

Oh yes. I did not pay attention to this panel. Now it works.
Thanks a lot!
